2000L/H EDI Module Deionized Ultrapure Water System

I.EDI Operational Principle

An EDI membrane module is composed of several stacked units consisting of concentrate and dilute water chambers.

Pure water chamber: A working layer consisting of a mixture of resins filled between anion and cation exchange membranes, used to produce pure water, is called a pure water chamber.

Concentrate chamber: A working layer consisting of anion and cation exchange membranes connected between two pure water chambers, used to collect concentrate, is called a concentrate chamber.

Electrode plates: Conductive plates used to generate an electric field during membrane module operation, known as electrode plates. They are typically divided into positive and negative electrodes and are located at both ends of the membrane module.

The working principle of EDI is shown in the figure. In an EDI membrane module, a number of EDI cells are separated by grid plates to form a concentrate chamber and a dilute chamber. Anode/cathode electrodes are located at each end of the cell. Driven by direct current, anions and cations in the dilute chamber flow through the anion and cation exchange membranes, respectively, and migrate to the concentrate chamber, where they are removed.
